Ardgour & Kingairloch with Strontian with Morvern
The Area
The three parishes cover a large area, but with a population of just over one thousand. This number swells significantly during the summer as many tourists join us to enjoy the beauty, the wildlife and, occasionally, the weather!
Geographically central, Strontian is home to the manse and is seen as a “growth pole” by both Lochaber Presbytery and Highland Council. It is home to Ardnamurchan High School as well as a local nursery and primary school, with other primary schools at both Ardgour and Lochaline. The area is well served by local shops, hotels and pubs, with the local health centre and dental surgery close by in Acharacle.
The High School houses the Sunart Centre, offering a wide range of cultural activities including regular film showings, many concerts, a local writers’ group and others. It is also home to the local library and offers sports facilities.
Further afield, Fort William is only 15 minutes’ drive from the Corran Ferry, and offers supermarket shopping, leisure centre and other more urban attractions. In the opposite direction, the splendours of Glencoe and the remoteness of Rannoch Moor beckon. Glasgow, Inverness and Stirling are all less than two hours away.
There is a strong sense of local spirit in all of the communities, with community companies and councils, and activities ranging from the local agricultural shows to whist drives and fund-raisers.

The Guild is active throughout the churches, and all three parishes get together in the summer for their parish picnic and at Christmas for the Peninsula Carol Service. For many years we have supported BibleLands and sponsored a child. We support a former member who works with Friends International in Belfast.
